Work At Home As An Affiliate Marketer? Part V of My Journey

oneweekmarketing1

It's been some time since I updated this series on my affiliate marketing experience. I have no excuse except that I've been involved in quite a few projects. I haven't made that step to hire freelancers to do a lot of my work for my yet. It's that "chicken and the egg" saying--you know? You have to make the money first to be able to hire the freelancers, but you also need the freelancers to HELP you make the money.

With my upcoming Google check, I plan on putting that money back into my business and hiring freelancers to do a lot of my writing (not for my blogs) but for other projects. ANYWAY, back to my update on my affiliate marketing experience. If you'd like to review the past posts to catch up, you can do so by clicking the appropriate links listed below:

Sorry if my overview of what I've been up to over the past few months is redundant so stick with me here. I've been applying what I've learned in the "One Week Marketing" Plan created by "PotPie Girl" whose real name is Jennifer. Her system uses free tools such as Squidoo.com and free article sites such as Ezinearticles.com among others to write articles and promote affiliate products.

The affiliate product I decided to promote was a natural treatment to get rid of acne product called Acne No More. I thought it was a great product since it was created by a long-term acne sufferer, nutritionist, medical researcher and health consultant who invested thousands of clinical research hours on his acne system.

The person that developed this system, Mike Walden, guarantees his product works and will cure acne permanently if you follow his system. He claims that visible results can be seen within seven days, and dramatic results, if not permanent results, within two months.

According to PotPieGirl's One Week Marketing plan, I wrote numerous "lenses" on Squidoo revolving around the keywords I decided to target for this program, and promoted my "how to get rid of acne" affiliate product. In fact, I have six lenses published on Squidoo at this time. Here they are:

What Causes Acne And How To cure It Forever With The Best Natural Acne Treatment!

Best Natural Acne Treatment Found!

Finally, A Natural Treatment To Cure Acne

Diet and Acne: Could What You Eat Be Causing Your Acne?

Clear Up Acne In Your 40's With A Guaranteed Natural Acne Treatment

Getting Married? Cure Your Acne Fast Before Your Wedding Day!

The last time I updated this series, I was waiting for Ezinearticles to approve my article titled, "Get Rid Of Acne Now Before Your Wedding Day" that was finally published on June 25. Since the article was published just two weeks ago, it has been viewed 64 times. In addition, 10 people clicked the url in my author resource box to visit the "cure acne permanently" affiliate product I'm promoting, and 2 people clicked the url to the "get rid of acne before your wedding day" Squidoo lens that I wrote. I'm very pleased with these numbers because this is just the beginning. Like I said in my last post in this series, I haven't done any real article marketing except this one article just published two weeks ago. Since this article was published, I received two more sales.

In addition, I came up with another affiliate product I decided to promote after purchasing it myself. It's a face painting designs ebook. Once again, I used PotPieGirl's One Week Marketing Method by creating a Squidoo lens, "Face Painting Small Designs On Kids For Fun & Profit," mentioning this product.

I also wrote an article titled, "Small Face Painting Designs On Kids--Fun For All," and submitted it to Ezinearticles, and I blogged about this facepainting design product here on MyMochaMoney, and on Blogger where I titled the post, "Face Painting Small Designs On Kids--Real Home Business?".

So far, I've made one sale on this product. However, I made the sale before I was getting any traffic from Google to my lens (at this time, I hold the #3, #4 and #7 spots on Google for my chosen keywords. The #3 spot is indeed my Squidoo lens) using PotPieGirl's tactics (and one thing I discovered on my own that I will share in the near future), my lens on small face painting designs shot to #115 in the Parenting & Kids category, and its' overall rank is #2,727 out of hundreds of thousands of Squidoo lenses (as of today). These rankings seem to improve every day.

Again, I followed the One Week Marketing plan. However, there's more I can do like write more Squidoo lenses about face painting, link those lenses together, write more articles, and more.

I started with just the one lens, the one article, and a couple of blog posts just to see if I could get an affiliate sale. Since I did, I will most likely move forward promoting this face painting ebook. I must note that I only make $10 for each sale. I know that's not a lot and I could make so much more promoting other things (and I plan too), however, I truly believe in this product, and I enjoy face painting! It makes it that much easier to write about this product and about face painting designs in general.

I promise to continue to update this series, so if you're interested in finding out how I'm doing with my affiliate marketing efforts, go ahead and subscribe to my RSS feed and/or newsletter to be informed when the next article in the series is posted.

If you want to learn more about PotPieGirl's affiliate marketing methods that I personally think are brilliant and are helping me to earn money, then go to her One Week Marketing overview page and read all about it.

Earn Extra Cash At Home With Arbitrage!

soldDo you want to earn extra cash at home with a fun business? Then arbitrage may be for you! According to Wikipedia, in economics and finance, the definition of arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price differential between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices.

I take advantage of arbitrage opportunities all the time. If you know the right places to search for items you can purchase at a reasonable price, and sell them for a reasonable profit, then it really isn't that hard. You just need to be consistent, and regularly do research as for the best places to search for arbitrage opportunities.

SlickDeals.net
I personally like to check out Slickdeals.net and hang out in their Hot Deals Forum. That's where all the hot deals are posted by a community of like-minded deal seekers. Others vote on the deals by giving the topic a thumbs up or thumbs down. I scan the topics with the most thumbs up, and read them first. However, don't discount the items without any "thumbs" because they can just be topics of not much interest to the majority of people, or they're newly posted.

Once, I found a deal for Tony Hawk helmet cameras. Very cool, little cameras that fit on a sports helmet. Great for skateboarders, bike riders, skiiers, etc. Someone on Slickdeals found them at an online store for $19.99. Well, sellers on Amazon were selling them anywhere from $60-$80. I purchased as many as I could from this online source, and even purchased them at $29.99 at another online source and turned around and sold them on Amazon. I made almost $3,000 from this one product in just two weeks (I have to add that it was the Holiday season so obviously that helped).

Sadly, the days where money could be made from selling Tony Hawk helmet cameras are over. If you look on Amazon now for the Digital Blue Tony Hawk Helmetcam, at least as of today, the item is selling for $26.60. Time to move on...

Here Is Amazon's Deal Of The Day

DealCatcher
I also subscribe to Deal Alerts from DealCatcher.com. You enter keywords of either products or stores with deals or sales in which to be alerted. You will receive an email that informs you of these deals.

I received a DealAlert the other day from DealCatcher that let me know about a deal from Buy.com since that's one of my keywords. Buy.com had a digital photo converter from Hammacher Schlemmer for $50. They retail for $200. I did a quick search on eBay to see the average price for which they were selling, and an advanced search informed me that I could sell them and make a profit. I bought four. I sold all four with a reasonable profit. Better yet, the auctions attracted decent traffic so everyone that looked at my auctions, also got to see a link from my auction to my About Me Page on eBay where I advertise MyMochaMoney blog, plus other links to articles and posts I've written.

Face Painting Small Designs On Kids-REAL Home Business?

Face Painting Bunny Design

I just started face painting small designs for kids not too long ago. However, I think face painting is a viable REAL small business you can do at home. In addition, face painting is extremely enjoyable, partly due to the fact that you put smiles on kids' faces very quickly!

I never realized how much fun face painting was until I tried it. I have some painting skills, but I'm not convinced that a true beginner couldn't make a real go at being a proficient face painter--even possibly starting their own home business out of this hobby. If you have the desire, the willingness to learn, and the dedication to practicing, anything is possible!

Below is the original blog post that was recently posted on MyMochaMoney.com:

Face Painting Designs On Kids–Small Home Business With Big Potential?

I started face painting small designs on my five-year old and her friend this past weekend. I've never face painted before, but have some painting skills, so they turned out pretty good.

I actually had a ton of fun doing it, and like everything else that I discover and enjoy, I throw myself into it full force. I found myself scouring around for information on face painting both online and in the bookstore. I was wondering, because it was so much fun, if face painting could actually be a good small home business to start.

I bought the face paints at Michael's craft store where they only had two types of face paints to choose from. I bought the Snazaroo face painting kit that came with eight paints, a sponge, and a brush; a pretty basic kit but great for someone just starting out. When I went to Barnes & Noble to see what I could find in terms of face painting books, I couldn't believe that they didn't stock any books on face painting designs, or how to face paint, or anything to do with face painting. So, I went back to the internet to learn more.

Face Painting Butterfly Design

I never really considered face painting to be a viable small home business, but apparently, it can be somewhat lucrative. Think of all the places that you might find face painters...craft shows, birthday parties, corporate events, fairs, fund-raising events, and more. In my research, I discovered that face painters can make anywhere between $50 and $150 an hour depending upon their experience, and/or venue. Just a side note--you don't have to be a skilled painter to be a face painter. If you can follow directions and learn the techniques laid out for you in a reference guide, then you can learn face painting. Just know that it will take practice and patience.

Face Painting Cat Design

I found and purchased a really good face painting book online for $27. The book has 50 different face painting designs, complete with over 600 pictures and step-by-step instructions. It also includes professional face painters tricks, techniques and trade secrets, AND it came with four bonus guides worth over $44. Not bad for just $27! The four bonus guides are:

  • 10 Cheek & Body Designs

  • Painting Children: How to Keep Them Still

  • How to Take Great Photos of Your Children

  • How to Face Paint with the Confidence of a Professional

  • So if you are looking to possibly start a small home business and are wondering if face painting could be an option for you, or if you are just looking to have some fun with your kids, check out The Comprehensive Guide To Face Painting. This Guide was by far the best one I could find online, and after buying it, I know that I'll be kept busy painting a lot of faces this summer!

Will I start a small face painting home business now that I'm armed with the designs and knowledge to start one? You never know! For now, I'll keep painting my daughter's face and the faces of neighborhood kids. However, you never know where a new skill can take you!
